Connecting, inspiring, and informing our community with integrity and independence.
About us
Established in September 1921, The Wairoa Star has been a steadfast pillar of our community for over a century. Throughout its rich history, the newspaper has seen various changes in ownership, each bringing new perspectives and growth. In September 2024, Tātau Tātau Commercial Limited Partnership, also known as E Tipu, acquired The Wairoa Star. E Tipu is the commercial arm of Te Wairoa’s post-settlement governance entity, Tātau Tātau o Te Wairoa.
Our Vision: To create moments of connection that inspire, inform, and engage our readers with the people, places, and stories of Te Wairoa.
Our Mission: To amplify local voices, foster community engagement, and promote inclusivity through innovative storytelling.
We are dedicated to serving the community with honesty, integrity, and independence. The Wairoa Star is more than just a newspaper; it is a weekly tradition, delivered every Thursday, that brings our community together.
Join us as we continue to celebrate and document the vibrant life of Te Wairoa, one story at a time.
